Stanton's Continued Power Display
After going 0-for-14 in the Dodgers series, Giancarlo Stanton hit his second home run in as many days. On Wednesday, Stanton hit a 449-foot home run to left center. The slugger went 2-for-5 and has 17 home runs this season. Cody Poteet took the mound for the Yankees and pitched another good game. In 5.1 innings, the right-hander allowed two runs on four hits and three walks (88 pitches/52 strikes). He also struck out two hitters. In four starts this season, Poteet has not allowed more than two runs in any game.
Bullpen's Shaky Performance
Following Poteet, the bullpen became problematic. Ian Hamilton and Tommy Kahnle combined to allow three runs to score in the seventh inning, and it could have been more if Judge hadn't made a great diving catch to end it.
