LeBron James has had an unmatched career longevity, and even though he is 40 years old and into his 22nd NBA season, his max deal was never in doubt. How the Lakers will surround him this summer to make the most of his remaining years and pursue another title has been the true question.

The deal has finally been sealed. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN and other sources, LeBron has agreed to a two-year, $104 million max contract with a player option in the second year and a no-trade clause. For this season, LeBron chose not to sign a $51.4 million contract.

LeBron's Continued Dominance

LeBron, who averages 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game, is still among the greatest players in the league. He was selected for the 20th time as an All-NBA and All-Star last season. He is the cornerstone of the Lakers' plan because of his relentlessness and high quality of play.

Strategic Timing and Olympic Aspirations

In order to coincide with the conclusion of the NBA's signing restriction and the beginning of Team USA's training camp for the Paris Olympics, LeBron sought to complete this deal by July 6. This summer, LeBron will represent the United States in Paris.

This offseason, the Lakers haven't done anything to improve their roster. The Lakers will pay $190 million in salary this season, $1.1 million more than the second tax bracket, thanks to LeBron's max agreement and Bronny James' four-year, $7.9 million pact. This serves as a hard cap, limiting their alternatives for team-building exercises. To keep under the $188.9 million second apron maximum, the Lakers are thinking of making moves or accepting a $1 million discount from LeBron.

Trade and Free Agency Implications

The mid-level exception is no longer available to the Lakers for player acquisition. By July 6, they must make transactions that result in a lower salary than they send out before LeBron signs his contract.

DeMar DeRozan and other players have been connected to the Lakers; nevertheless, any acquisition must cover the current wages of players. DeRozan might be joining the Heat instead, according to recent rumors.

To keep LeBron happy, the Lakers have made a number of decisions, such as selecting his son Bronny James and hiring J.J. to replace coach Darvin Ham. Redick. These moves were sufficient to guarantee LeBron's commitment to Los Angeles, coupled with the maximum salary. LeBron can, however, choose not to play next summer, which will put more pressure on the Lakers to assemble a strong team.
